  • Hi there, I’m Emma Winson!

Over my nine years as a Nurse Practitioner, I’ve come to deeply appreciate the connection between mental and physical health. My work with Indigenous communities, in particular, has taught me the importance of culturally sensitive, holistic care. Seeing how mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, insomnia, and PTSD impact both mind and body is what inspired me to specialize in mental health care and pursue advanced training in this field.

I specialize in diagnosing and managing Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). These conditions can deeply affect all aspects of life, and I’m here to help you navigate them with targeted, evidence-based treatments and compassionate support.

Beyond providing medical support, I also assist clients with the practical aspects of managing their mental health. This includes completing important forms for short-term and long-term disability (insurance or workplace-based), workplace accommodations, ODSP (Ontario Disability Support Program) initial applications and Medical Review Packages, EI, compassionate care leave, CPAP forms (for insomnia-related conditions), and Disability Tax Credit (DTC) applications. I know these processes can feel overwhelming, and I’m here to make them as smooth and supportive as possible.

My approach to care is rooted in collaboration, respect, and transparency. I believe in creating a space where you feel safe, supported, and informed. When it comes to medication management, I’ll guide you through your options, explain the benefits and risks, and work closely with you to develop a plan that feels right for your unique needs. I also utilize tools like pharmacogenetic testing to tailor treatments and ensure we’re targeting what works best for you.

One of the things I love most about my work is collaborating with psychotherapists and other mental health professionals to provide truly integrated care. I know that medication alone isn’t the solution — it’s about combining medical support with therapeutic care to address the full picture of your mental health.

When I’m not working, you’ll often find me indulging my love of plants (my virtual office is practically a jungle!), birdwatching for snowy owls, sewing sustainable quilts, or sweating it out in a Hot Hatha yoga class. I’m also a big fan of board games and love exploring new ones with family and friends.

If you’re nervous about starting a conversation about your mental health, know that you’re in control. My role isn’t to dive into the details of your history — it’s to support you in taking the next steps toward feeling better. Whether you’re ready to take action or just starting to explore, I’m here to walk alongside you on this journey. Let’s work together to help you feel more balanced, empowered, and connected.
